The University Ombuds Officer works with University community members to help resolve university-related problems in a fair and civil manner. The Ombuds Officer listens, informally researches issues, meets as necessary with relevant decision makers, helps identify options and facilitates resolutions.
The Ombuds Officer is a confidential and neutral resource to answer questions, explore and reframe options to help develop avenues for resolving conflict. The Ombuds Officer’s primary goals are to help identify problem-solving options, facilitate fair interactions, cultivate an environment of respect and identify underlying causes of problems.
The Ombuds Officer does not participate in formal complaint processes or make binding decisions. The University Ombuds Officer can assist visitors by identifying the appropriate person to contact about requesting formal University action.
